What if the wind
Could be the thing
That made
My decisions?

Last night
She came calling
She hammered at my door
She knocked at my window.

She knew my troubled mind
She told me things
That scared me
She kept me awake.

She meant no harm.

But knowing she’s been everywhere
Knowing her strength
My heart wouldn’t still
My mind wouldn’t fight.

I gave in last night.

In my fear I told her
If you think it’s best
If you really want to take me
Then take me.

Her howling calmed
And tapping
Filled my room.

The rain had come instead.
