This poem is excerpted from Embers & Ambera collection of poetry by Candice Landau that explores love, loss, memory, and becoming.

The wind spoke to me
the whole ride in
incessant chatter
burbling at my silence.
And the sun
just thick enough for me
to ignore her too.
Between the extremes
this fall a blanket
I can use a little while longer.
